“AWWWWWWWW SPACECITYCLOUD! DON’T YOU DARE BE SOUR! CLAP FOR THE NEW SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S CHAMPION, AND FEEEEEEL THE POWWAAAAAAAA!” Last Sunday at Elimination Chamber we witnessed probably one of the best pay-per-view in a while with a few exceptions, but I will not get into that.
I’m going to confess though I was not a big fan of SmackDown after the split not because of the wrestlers, but because of the story lines. They were predictable, uninteresting, and bland. That was until a couple of weeks ago when I started watching it again and I noticed new faces getting t.v. time. So, I decided to give them a chance and since then SD has been very entertaining more so than RAW, and I LOVE everybody on RAW. I just feel that RAW runs too long and they do not use their time wisely. There’s a lack of women matches, tag team matches and the cruiser weight division is getting shitted on. Hopefully Stephanie and Foley can get their shit together soon.
I could say a lot more, but how about that Elimination Chamber! I went in with little expectations for this PPV because I thought I knew who would win every title match.Even though, I was wrong for a couple of them I was not mad just because of how entertaining the matches were. The one that surprised me the most was the women’s championship match, Naomi vs Alexa Bliss. It took WWE long enough to let Naomi shine. I’ve been saying how she needed a good push and I’m glad they’re finally giving her a chance. She had to put up with stupid shit, like The Funkadactyls crap for years and then that Bad Girls Club angle. Ugh!
I hated the fact that Alexa Bliss came up so quickly from NXT since she clearly needed more training and then gets thrown onto SD, and beats Becky Lynch for the title. Bullshit! There are far better women wrestlers that SD could have used for heel, but I don’t write for them.Oh, well. Naomi has proven herself worthy of a title match for quite some time now as to why she hasn’t is a mind puzzler. She just needed to find her character and she did! I love her EDM entrance, I love the concept behind “Feel the Glow”, but maybe it shouldn’t be used in monologues it sounds corny as fuck. I have this theory that WWE does not like to see black champions and if they do become champions they do not hold the title for long. Well except for,the New Day. After beating Alexa Bliss for the championship at Elimination Chamber, Naomi revealed she was injured a few day later on the following SmackDown. With a promise to carry the title into this years Wrestlmania in her hometown of Orlando, we were reluctant to find out a week later she was forced to relinquish the title. Due to the fact that she would not be able to defend it within the 30 day requirement. At first I felt sorry for her, but the feeling quickly change into anticipation . I see this as an opportunity for her to return with a huge hype from her absence and a big push for her to get the title back before Wrestlemania . Guess we will just have to wait and see in the mean time, GO NAOMI!
